Senior Fullstack Magento Engineer (Adobe Commerce)

About the role

We are a boutique, elite technology services firm seeking a world-class Senior Fullstack Magento Engineer. You will lead the development and architectural strategy for sophisticated, high-scale e-commerce platforms. This is a role for a Magento veteran who thrives on solving the deep-seated complexities of Adobe Commerce while delivering modern, performant frontend experiences and leveraging agentic development workflows.

In this role, you aren’t just managing themes and plugins — you are architecting the engine of enterprise-level commerce. We expect a deep, intuitive understanding of Magento’s core, from the intricacies of the EAV model and indexing to complex third-party integrations and headless architectures.

As a member of our firm, you will operate with high autonomy, often acting as the final technical authority on project-specific architectural decisions. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that our clients’ stores are not only functional but are optimized for extreme speed, security, and long-term maintainability.

Core responsibilities

• Architectural leadership: Design and implement complex custom modules and extensions following Magento best practices (and beyond).
• Agentic workflows: Implement and manage agentic development patterns, leveraging AI agents and LLMs to automate complex e-commerce workflows and enhance internal productivity.
• Fullstack execution: Build robust backend logic in PHP/MySQL while crafting fluid, high-conversion frontends using modern tools (Hyvä, Alpine.js, or React/PWA Studio).
• Performance optimization: Obsess over Core Web Vitals, server-side caching (Varnish/Redis), and database query optimization to ensure sub-second load times.
• Complex integrations: Lead the integration of ERPs, CRMs, and complex payment/shipping gateways, ensuring data integrity and system resilience.
• Technical specifications: Author detailed technical specs for other engineers, ensuring a clear path for implementation and reducing technical debt.
• Security & compliance: Maintain a proactive stance on platform security, patches, and PCI compliance requirements.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an engineer who has “seen it all” in the Magento ecosystem and can demonstrate high-level technical maturity.

Technical mastery

• Demonstrated Magento mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Commerce/Magento 2 Open Source. Adobe Certified Professional/Expert status is highly favored.
• Agentic development: Proficiency with agentic development principles, including the integration of AI agents and autonomous workflows into production environments.
• PHP & backend excellence: Advanced PHP skills and a strong grasp of the Zend and Symfony components underlying Magento.
• Database depth: Advanced MySQL knowledge, including index optimization and managing large-scale EAV datasets.
• Modern frontend fluency: Strong experience with modern Magento frontend stacks. Experience with Hyvä Themes or Tailwind CSS is a major plus.
• Search & cache mastery: Hands-on experience with ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Redis, and Varnish.
• API proficiency: Deep experience with GraphQL and REST APIs for headless or integrated environments.
